Vibe Coding! While I don't like that that's what it's called, it's a new skill to learn. I was on Substack one day and saw a post that said 25% of YC startups from the most recent batch had majority of its code written by AI. I've spent most of my product design career being completely reliant on engineers to bring my vision to life, and I've always wished there was a way to bridge the gap better, but I also didn't want to learn to code because it makes my brain itch. It was Rishabh from Defog (YC W23) that introduced me to the wonders of Lovable, and I've been playing around with it since.

Spicy Planet was my first attempt at creating an app on Lovable, and it's purely for shi*s and giggles. I love learning and science, and one of the sciences I love learning about is natural disasters. I created Spicy Planet as a bit of a mock interactive learning platform where you can browse, get intrigued and get fascinated by the awesome power of nature.

Even though the project was just for fun, it served as a good intro to Lovable: its strengths and weaknesses, its downright glitchy areas, and it helped me become familiar with the idea of working with a coding assistant. Even though coding makes my brain itch, I found myself actually being able to watch and learn with each incremental change and addition, refining prompting strategies to get it to do exactly what you want, troubleshooting strategies for when it doesn't do what you want and improving the groundwork needed before you hand things over to the AI.
